Charles Blatteis, Esq. Biography
Attorney Blatteis provides corporate and transactional legal services to individuals and business entities doing business in the United States and also internationally. He assists clients with their litigation matters in the United States and has extensive experience in representing foreign nationals and immigrants in this area. Additionally, Mr. Blatteis serves officially as a “Consulting Attorney” for the Consulate General of Mexico in Little Rock as well as for the Consulate General of Peru in Atlanta.
A first generation U. S. Citizen of Hispanic and German descent, Charles Blatteis is bilingual in English and Spanish at the legal professional level and speaks French at the conversational level. Charles Blatteis graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a BSFS in International Law, Politics and Organization and a Certificate in Latin American Studies. He obtained his J.D. in Common Law from Tulane Law School along with a Certificate in European Legal Studies. Over the years, Mr. Blatteis has held various positions in international business and/or law with employers as diverse as International Paper Company in their Memphis headquarters and Baker and McKenzie (the world’s largest international law firm) in their Chicago headquarters. He has also worked as a partner in some of Memphis’s largest law firms, the Bogatin Law Firm, PLLC and most recently at Burch Porter & Johnson, PLC, before establishing his own firm the Blatteis Law Firm, PLLC. Attorney Blatteis has also been awarded a United States patent as a co-inventor of an ecologically friendly manufacturing process, which has subsequently been patented in various countries worldwide.

Civic Leadership
Charles Blatteis is an active
community leader and has demonstrated deep commitment to civic service in the
United States and abroad. Charles is not only sought out by policy makers,
not-for-profits, and government officials for his legal acumen, but also for
his insight into international communities, with particular regard for his

Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Memphis Branch Board
Charles served for three years as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Memphis Branch of the Federal Reserve of St. Louis.
He served on the board for 7 years and holds the distinction of being the longest serving director in the history of the Memphis Branch of the Fed. He was originally appointed by Fed Chairman Greenspan and was reappointed twice by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. The Board of Directors provides the Federal Reserve System with information on the economic conditions of the region that informs national decisions on monetary policy. Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce
Charles served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce for 6 years, and, during 4 of those years, he was the Chairman of the International Business Council.
During his service for the Chamber of Commerce, Charles promoted international trade and investment through Memphis, and organized a trade mission to Mexico, at the request of the Mayor of Memphis and the Consul General of Mexico, with high-level executives of the Mid-South region. Consulate of Mexico
Attorney Blatteis serves as a "Consulting Attorney" for the Consulate General of Mexico in Little Rock and has worked with the Atlanta Consulate General of Mexico in their program for legal assistance in the exterior for over a decade.
The position of Consulting Attorney is one that is rarely given and must be formally conferred on an attorney in the United States by the Foreign Ministry in Mexico. It is only awarded to attorneys who have had their backgrounds and client references checked and have been recommended by trusted Mexican community sources. As a Consulting Attorney, Charles Blatteis helps not only US and Mexican investors in both countries, but also is called upon to defend immigrant rights in wrongful death and precedent-setting cases in the MidSouth region. Consulate of Peru
Charles Blatteis has worked as a "Consulting Attorney" for the Consulate General of Peru in Atlanta for a number of years under various Consuls General.
The Consulate recognizes Attorney Blatteis’s bilingual legal skills and international and civil law experience for US and foreign investors doing business in both countries as well as Peruvian co-nationals needing legal assistance in the US. Additionally, the Consulate General has qualified Attorney Blatteis as a specially authorized notary for purposes of shortening the “Apostille” process required for many legal documents to be used in Peru. Peruvian nationals can have their legal documents notarized by Attorney Blatteis and then sent directly to the Peruvian Consulate (rather than first channeling them through various United States agencies), not only saving multiple steps in the Apostille process but also saving the Peruvian national the cost and time of a trip to Atlanta. Leadership Memphis
From 2005 through 2008, Charles served on the Board of Directors and also provided pro-bono legal counsel to the organization.
Leadership Memphis is a non-profit organization that connects and creates more effective community leaders. Charles was one of the first Hispanic graduates of Leadership Memphis in 2001 and has promoted increased training, involvement and civic leadership of Hispanic leaders in Memphis. Charles Blatteis served on the Board of Directors for six years during which the Shell was saved from destruction, rebuilt and restored to its current vibrant state.
Built in 1936 and recognized as the site of Elvis Presley’s first professional rock-n-roll show, the Levitt Shell is an outdoor performing arts pavilion located in the heart of Midtown, Memphis in the beautiful Overton Park.
